31.5 Weeks Gestation
I am no longer employed outside the home.
Ever since we’ve been married, Daddy and I planned for me to be a stay-at-home Mom. We figured the best gift we could give you was to have Mommy home with you all the time. I know for some it is necessary to go to work, but for us the only way to go was for me to quit. In fact, when we were buying our home we could have gone up to $85,000, but opted to keep it under $70,000, because we knew that we wouldn’t have my income once we became a family. We planned everything, thinking only of Daddy’s income, so that we would be able to live without mine. I am so happy that it has worked out this way. I am going to be able to be always be with you, and not miss a moment of your life!
Even though you are not due until January, Daddy said I should quit now, because he didn’t think I needed the stress of Christmas in retail. I wasn’t about to argue with him, because inventory was coming up, and with it being a new company, I decided to let someone else bear the brunt! LOL! So I was naughty and my last day of work was November 6, 1997.

Roses from Janet
I was so excited that day, knowing I would never had to go back to work again. That I would be able to spend all my time with you, and not miss a moment of your life. I couldn’t wait to sign my termination papers! LOL! The funny thing was, my boss, Tom Jones, kept me in his office for 20 to 30 minutes telling me what an asset I was to the company, and that they would miss me, etc… It was nauseating! LOL! I finally made up an excuse, so that I could leave. Heck, it should only take a second to sign a paper and gather your last check.
A couple weeks before my last day I started training Janet, my replacement. She had been with the company for many more years than me, but she had been in charge of the camera department. On my last day she gave me these beautiful roses!!! Wasn’t that sweet!
Until you’re born, I am spending my time working on a special quilt for Grandma and Grandpa.

Melody Dawn, minutes old.
Your cousin Melody was born! She is so beautiful, and holding her makes me more anxious for your arrival! I’m excited that the two of you will only be a couple months apart in age. I hope you are close!
Melody was born at 11:08 pm on Thursday, November 13, 1997. She was 6 pounds, 7 ounces and she was 19 inches long.
Oh! We bought one more thing for the nursery… A glider rocking chair! I’ve been wanting one for a long time now, but we couldn’t afford the nice ones that are at Sears, as they cost over $300. So when we saw one at Home Base for $99 we had to get it. It’s not has nice as the ones at Sears. It doesn’t have the foot rest thingy, or padded arms. But I like the color, and I’m glad we’ll have something in your room to sit in for night time feedings. We brought it home today and Daddy got it all set up, and I had to try it out! I can’t wait until I am rocking you to sleep in that chair!

Congrats! That is the best decision and God will reward it richly!
