Jared :: 5 Years Old

7 more days until my check-up!!!

My little man Jared turned 5 years old today!!!! I am now the mommy of a 5 year old!!! Anyone got a tissue? I can’t believe he’s 5!!!!! Such a grown up little man… *sighs*

*sighs* They grow up too fast. He’s getting big too, though not by the professional standards! :lol: At his 5 year check-up he was only 40 inches tall, and weighed 32 pounds. He’s in the 10th % for height and minus 5% for weight. In 5 year old terms, I guess he’s a runt…. But he’s a cute runt! ;)

Jared is getting BEYOND smart! :mrgreen: He can count as high as he wants to now. Last time he was on a roll, he made it past 600 before getting distracted… Of course he only does this when we’re in a restaurant, or in a store, when you’d just as soon him NOT count! ;)

As it got closer to his 5th birthday, I started to once again think about homeschooling him. We had been having a little homeschool preschool already, and we both enjoyed it. So, after sweet talking Daddy into letting me try, we bought the curriculum and began the Monday after his birthday. He is doing SO well. He’s flying through the subjects at an alarming rate! :)

Jared still has an amazing bond with Alicia, and plays well with Josh too. He loves being a big brother. He was also excited to find out that we’re going to have another baby come August. And if he knew how, he’s probably be counting down the days! ;)

Some of Jared’s favorite things to do are, going to the zoo. Playing with his animals with Josh, chasing Alicia around the house…. Hmmm… He likes to play with his cars… Oh, and we can’t forget his passion for Rescue Heroes! He also likes to ride his bike when it is nice out, and swing on the swing set. His favorite movies at this time are “The Country Bears” and “Free Willy”.

We are having his party tomorrow, but I wanted to make today special too. So we took the kids out the KFC for dinner, as they LOVE the macaroni and cheese, and their potato wedges! LOL! Then we came home, and while Daddy watched a Blazer game, I watched a Disney movie with the kids, and we had Twinkies, in honor of the big day! :) Closest thing I could think of that resembled cake! ;) (That was at Target, we had to go there as I found out I was out of birthday wrap)… Then, as an EXTRA special treat, I let Jared stay up after the other two were in bed, to watch an extra movie. He chose “The Country Bears”… That’s all he ever wants to watch anymore! :lol: … Oh, and Daddy and I helped them clean the playroom too… Jared was quite impressed with all his birthday had to offer.

I’m still feeling good. Have a bit if a headache, and am tired… But don’t really feel pregnant at this time… Unless you count all the bazillion pimples I’m infested with! ;) With every pregnancy, I looked like my face went through a war zone! Kind of sucks! :P

I was copying the video from when Alicia was born today, and the kids were watching it with me. When Joe and the nurse were washing her up, she had one of those meconium blow-outs! :P (Caught on tape too! ;) ) Anyhoo, Jared suddenly asks me, “Mommy, do baby’s poop while they are in your tummy?” So I told him that some do, but most wait until they are born. (His face is a bit green at this news), then I tell him that baby’s pee in mommy’s tummy all the time… At this point he looked like he wanted to hurl! :mrgreen: Wonder if I’ll get many more questions like that from him! ;)

The funniest question I ever got had to have been the one from dear hubby while I was pregnant with Josh. Joe says, in all seriousness, “As loud as baby’s cry, I’m surprised you can’t hear them from in your stomach.”….. After I finished laughing (which took a while), I told him that they don’t cry while in utero… He says, “They are crying when they come out.”…. So I explained that they don’t even take their first breath until birth, and that’s when they start crying! LOL! So funny! Poor Joe… What was he doing during health class?

I got the baby development thing done!!! It’s on my Baby Blog.

Well, I am quite tired, and have a bit of a headache, so I am going to go to bed! Good night!
