Another Week Begins

Hope everyone had a decent sort of weekend… Ours went by pretty fast. I can’t believe it’s Monday again.

We took the kids to the bowling alley on Friday… We usually go to the cosmic bowl, so we know they play the music extra loud… But this time… OH MY WORD. I’m surprised that I didn’t come out of there with a migraine! It was awful! … And I wouldn’t even call it music. It was this awful hard rock junk. (I like it better when they play the stuff from the 80s… Though I would prefer country…)

Amanda loses her 3rd tooth...

While we were eating at the bowling alley Amanda lost her 3rd loose tooth. I didn’t even know it was that loose. I got to looking, and she has another one that is quite loose too, so it won’t be too long before she loses that one too.

Remember how Josh went through a 2-3 week time period where he wasn’t bowling well… Well, it seems to be Jared’s turn… Only he doesn’t take it as well as Josh does. Josh is more like Joe, and stuff just sort of rolls off his back, and he can remain OK with it… Jared is more like me, and he takes it to heart. He has been very upset with himself over his below average games. :( Poor Jared! … When Josh was going through it, RC mentioned that with her, she always got a little worse for a bit before she improved, and sure enough that’s what happened with Josh. He is now bowling better than ever. I keep telling Jared that soon he’ll be bowling better than ever too.

Speaking of Josh and bowling, Josh bowled his best game and series ever on Saturday. He bowled a 140 game, and his series (of the 3 games on Saturday), he bowled a 382… Which beats both Jared and Joe’s top series. (Jared’s top series is 342, and Joe’s is 352… Jared still wins for top game though, with his 170… Joe’s top game is 156.)

After the bowling league on Saturday, the boys went over to spent the night with the twins… After spending a couple hours at home, we took the girls out to dinner at Pizza Hut and then did the walmart thing. Got by only spending $200 for 2 weeks of groceries and other stuff (like shampoo, cleaning supplies, etc) … It’s usually higher than that, so we were pleased. *lol*

We tried Grace Church on Sunday… Turns out that they are affiliated with the Northwest Conservative Baptist Association, so we know that they are good to go on the doctrine front. :) … Anyway, it reminded me a lot of Lifegate Baptist, where we went when we were still living in Portland. The pastor introdused himself right away, and had no trouble remembering their names… The main Sunday School teacher made a beeline to us when we first walked in the door, and was beaming with happiness over the kids. *lol* Though the church is average sized, there isn’t a whole lot of younger kids (did see quite a few teens though)… But the kids were very happy with the Sunday School… Joe and I were hoping to find a church with more kids, but I think most of the younger families in the area go to the big church that we had been going too.

Anyway, we’ll be going back… Joe and I felt very welcome, and everyone seemed nice… And like I said, all the kids said that they liked the church and wanted to go back. Sounds like a win/win to me. :)

Wait… The pastor just called Joe and sent an Email. He wants to come over and “get to know us better” … If he starts pressing for membership right away, it’s going to get us to run for the hills… We are not into getting pressured into anything… To be honest, we don’t know if we want to do the membership thing again… You can’t get roped into doing a million things for the church (like we did at Lifegate) when you’re not a member… Guess we shall see…

Sorry I haven’t been blog hopping for the last few days… Not only were we busy, but I’ve been working on getting old blog posts into my Blurb program. I want to turn all my family related blog posts into a book… If something should happen to me, Joe and the kids wouldn’t know how to get my old journaling, and it would probably be lost. I’ve been writing in my blog for the main purpose as to save our memories for the kids. It will be nice to have it on hard copy… It’s going to take a LONG time though, as I’ve been blogging for so long. Right now I am working on February of 1998. (My journaling starts in April of ‘92) … I am hoping to be done with the first book by the time tax returns come back… To get a 440 page page softbound book is $80. Right now I am at around page 160-ish… I want to work on it a little each evening. (I am adding a few pictures too, if they go with what I am writing… But I am trying not to overdo that. *lol*

Before I go I just wanted to give a quick shout out for insurance online … That’s something we can’t go without!

Ohhh let us know how you like the blog books when you get them, I’m planning on trying to come up with some money….someday…to get some of ours too. I looked at blurb, and another place. I liked the price at blurb, plus the fact that I’d be able to make my own cover…but the other place would slurp up the comments to, which I really liked, so not sure what I’m going to do. Probably end up with blurb, just because the price is so much better…but it will be a while before I have the money, so I could change my mind.

I wish I had the money now…cause I’d so love to have a hard copy of them too, just wish I could get more than a years posts per book…but with all my photos in my posts I can’t. LOL

Sorry Jules…but I had to laugh when you talked about that church! LOL! I know what you mean, since I went to Lifegate too for years. Gotta love those Baptists! I really like the Baptist doctrine too but have a hard time with the membership thing. Some can definitely pressure you into doing a lot of stuff. We never fill out the visitors slips anymore because we’ve had too many churches who didn’t know when to stop visiting or calling. A couple of churches we visited in the past were like that (they were all Baptist) and well, we got really tired of it. Our church now is very big, sounds like the church you’ve been attending lately. It has no membership which is nice and the people are surprisingly friendly for it being so large. The previous church we went to, we finally left because although it was fairly small (small to medium..a little larger than Lifegate) no one hardly would talk to us…and we attended there for 4 years! We live in a small town and all those people knew each other for years or were related and they never really included anyone new. They weren’t mean and I don’t think they did it on purpose. They were just very click-ish. So we finally ended up leaving. I like where we are so much better now…just wish I was healthy enough to go most Sundays. I hope the church turns out to be a good one for you so you can finally have a place to call home…it sure can be a tough process finding one!

    Hugs!!!

Glad you all liked the church. And yes, any church that presses for membership right away, is a definite warning. If you have been there a while and want to go for it … that is a different situation.

    Hugs!

See I probably would have liked the loud rock music LOL.

I hope the pastor doesn’t pressure you into joining. I wouldn’t like that either.

  5. Andrea Says:

Glad you enjoyed the new church. I understand what you mean about the joining thing. I like to be in “no pressure” situations. Why can’t people just go and enjoy themselves without feeling pressured to join, be a certain way, act a certain way, etc.?

    The blog books sound awesome!

I hear ya on the whole church thing.

I hope Jared sees a big leap in his bowling talents soon! Also, I am like you on the church thing – granted, I’ve been with the same church most of my life. However, I have ventured into other churches to help teach Sunday School and when I went away to college. If I’m pressured too much from the start, I run for the hills. :-)

I am happy you all liked the church! :D I think I am not comfortable with the pastor visiting at our home. LOL I don’t know why I am not good at entertaining guests. :(

I hope Jared will not feel so bad about his bowling scores lately and hope he will get back in having great scores.
