Meeting with the Pastor

I can’t believe I haven’t posted on here since Monday… Shame on me! I am getting to be a lazy blogger… Which is something I don’t want to happen! *sigh* … Must get better… I must!

My main problem is that Blurb book I am making, from old blog posts. I would really like to get it done by the end of the month, so that I can buy it with tax returns. Yesterday I got up to page 240, and am up to mid May 1999 … It was then that I noticed a problem…

You see, I started the book a few months ago and got up to page 107, and then stopped working on it until a couple 2-3 weeks ago. Well… I accidently changed the font size, and didn’t notice until last night. *sigh* … I am using Tahoma, and I was using size 10 for the journaling, with size 12 for the titles. I am now making the titles size 10 and making the journaling a size 9… Gah! … I am SO MAD at myself!… I am OCD enough that the change in font size would drive me batty… But do you know how much work it would be to change all the font sizes, and have to reline up pictures to match the journaling. *sigh* … Not to mention that on this old laptop, the Blurb program takes up too much memory and is really sluggish.

One thing I was thinking, is that I will be getting a new desktop computer with tax returns, and I want to get a lot faster processor (right now I am using a Centrino Duo, but I am hoping to get a quad or faster)… Maybe Blurb will work faster on the new computer, and I can get things fixed then.

What a mess! *sigh*

We met with Pastor Baker (John) and the kids’ Sunday School teacher last night… His name is Bert, but I don’t remember his last name… Anyway, it went well. Pastor Baker didn’t once mention membership. He really just wanted to get to know us as people… I think he wanted to see how we lived, etc (which is why he wanted to meet at our house)… They both seemed to like the house, and were especially interested in the class room… Especially Bert, who is a retired school teacher. (He taught 4th grade in the public school in Colton.)

Bert won me over fast because he couldn’t say enough good things about the kids. He said that they are well behaved, polite, and mannerly and that they are an answer to prayer. :) … He told us that last Sunday they had more kids in Sunday School than usual, so they were getting more chairs out. I guess Jared and Josh made sure that the girls had someplace to sit before they sat down themselves. He said that that simple act told him a lot about who the boys are… Joe and I couldn’t have been more proud. … After Bert told that story, Pastor Baker winked at the boys and told them, “Good job!”

I think we may have found our new church home. :) Everyone there has been so nice to us, and the kids love it.

Oh, and it has a good youth group too, which Jared will be old enough for next fall (when he enters junior high)… They call it “Fired Up Youth”, and I guess that there is quite a few churches involved. There is a seperate building, right next to the church that they meet in, and there are more than 100 teens. The objective is to train up the next generation of leaders, and they even work on things like table manners, and acting responsible, etc. I guess they had a banquet a couple weeks ago. The moms cooked the meal, and the dads (all dressed up in suits) did the serving. There was an 8 course meal, in a really elegant setting (we saw pictures last Sunday)… Those kids could probably conduct themselves in that setting better than I could… I would never know which silverware to use. The fanciest place I ever eat at is Sharis! *rofl*

Anyway… Off to other things…

I got our tax returns done on Tuesday. I hope that they are back soon, so that I can go get my new computer. :D … I can’t wait! We are also going to get the kids a Wii, and they are beyond excited about that. *lol* … I’m actually looking forward to doing some bowling on the Wii myself… I also want to eventually get Wii Fit. :)

Jared, ready to bowl

We took the kids bowling again on Wednesday… They have an after school special where students can bowl for a dollar a game, with free shoe rental (we’re buying them their own bowling shoes with tax returns)… Anyway, Jared and Josh ended up bowling 5 games. *lol* (Joe only bowled 3) …. Both the boys had some good games, and some not-so-good games, but they both came out of it happy…

Now that Jared has bowled a couple really good games again, his attitude is better… I guess when he bowled that 61 last Wednesday, he was sure that he would never bowl a good game again, and that’s why he was so upset. Now that he knows he can still bowl good games, he takes the bad ones in stride.

Sure glad that drama is over!

Alicia's play-doh Piglet

The girls always have a good time, even though they don’t usually bowl (sometimes they do)… I set them up with a “bowling bag”… It has blank paper, coloring books, crayons, a couple small stuffed animals, a couple Barbie dolls, and some play-doh. Give them the bag, with a drink and a snack, and they are good to go. *lol*

Oh, I almost forgot to mention… Amanda lost her 4th tooth on Wednesday. They’ve all been bottom teeth. I wonder when she will lose a top tooth? *lol*

Well… I need to go make breakfast and get some chores done… So I’ll catch ya on the flip side! … But before I go, I just wanted to give a quick shout out for Mexico vacation rentals… With this economy, it’s hard to afford a cool vacation, but if you can, you should check them out! :)

I am very happy that you finally found your church. The boys are so gentlemen at that young age! They girls are very lucky to have big brothers like them. :D I heard a lot of stories about big brothers bullying their little sisters.

So glad you have found a church that you love! Sorry to hear about all the problems you have been having with your computer. Frustrating!

On Thursday, we just got the kids a wii with my babysitting money. Our reason is for the exercise too! And Melody & Ryan LOVE it! Too funny to watch them bowling, playing baseball and golfing!

Glad that the church visit turned out well. I’ve always known how well-behaved your kids are, and you have too – but I’m sure it’s especially nice when other people notice and brag on them! :D

We filed about 2 weeks ago, so hoping the return comes in this week! We aren’t getting anything fun though, just saving for the adoption coming up (which I guess is fun). :)

    Love that piglet!!!

    Oh, Wii Fit? it’s…ermm….interesting. ;)
