Birthday Weekend

I really, really, really, really, really, really don’t want to turn 40. It makes my stomach upset just to think about it. *lol*
Despite the fact that I am teetering on the top of the hill, I still managed to have a good weekend.
On Saturday we of course went to the bowling alley for the boys’ league. It was a position round, and their team won 2 out of the 3 games… They could have won all three, but their team-mate, Marshall, was having a REALLY had day. On the game they lost, Marshall only got a 50 (his average is 89). If he had played as well as he normally does, they for sure would have won all three.
Jared and Josh, on the other hand, both bowled really well. I think Jared is out of his slump, much to his happiness. In fact, while he still didn’t beat his top game of 170, he managed to beat his top series (the total of all 3 games together). His top series was 342, but on Saturday he bowled a 390… He also got his first turkey (3 strikes in a row), but sadly it was during practice, so it didn’t count. *lol* Poor Jared! … He almost got a hambone (4 strikes in a row), but he only got 9 down on the 4th one… One pin shy. *lol*
On a side note, Debbie told me that they call it a turkey because in the olden days they used to give you a turkey if you got 3 strikes in a row. How funny is that! *lol*
When the league game was over, the boys (and the twins) went home with Joe’s mom to spend the night… As for Joe, me, and the girls… We had our own plans.
The first thing we did was to go to Clackamas, to where we got the boys’ bedroom furniture. We’ve been meaning to get Josh a bedstand to match his bedroom set, but until now we haven’t had the extra cash for it… And we were quite upset to see that they changed the color of the stain they use!!! The boys’ furniture is a light wood color (Jared already had his bedstand), but now they are using a dark stain. It would have looked terrible. *sigh* … So we went to a couple other furniture stores and were able to match the color of the wood very closely, so it “mostly” matches… But with Jared’s, the handles on the bedstand match the ones on his dresser… I wish Josh’s did too.
… But Josh didn’t care. He loves it… Guess he’s not as OCD as me!
(We ended up getting the bedstand at Bedmart, which is where we got the girls beds and dressers back in ‘07.)
After we picked up the bedstand we went to Round Table pizza to eat, and then we went to the movie theater at the Clackamas Town Center to watch a movie. We took the girls to see the new Alvin and the Chipmunks movie. (It was really cute.) … We haven’t been to the Town Center since before they remodeled it, and OMWord! It looks so different! The movie theater is huge now!
As for yesterday (my birthday), Joe took the girls to church, and then after hitting McDonald’s for lunch, went to Scott and Debbie’s place to watch the Superbowl… Joe’s parents went there to watch the game too, and brought the boys there for Joe to pick up…
I was able to have the entire day all to myself.
… I played on the computer some, and I watched a few episodes of Star Trek – Enterprise… iTunes had it on sale for $12.99 a season (which is a really good price, considering that it has 26 episodes in the first two seasons), so I thought I would give it a chance… And I am glad I did. I really like it.
… I wouldn’t call myself a “Trekkie”, but I do love me some Star Trek.
Well, must run… See ya on the flip side!

Well happy belated birthday!! Don’t worry about turning 40, it’s just another number…and no I’m not just saying that, because I’ll be there in May. *giggle* I’ve never worried about age, if you are lucky, you grow older…it’s better than the alternative, which is to die.
I like Star Trek myself, although never got into that one, always hate it when they go back and make one thats earlier in time than all the others were. I didn’t know iTunes had movies (I don’t get out much huh *snicker*)…can you burn them to dvd, so you can watch them on your tv, or not? It’s so much more comfy watching them in the living room on the tv to me. LOL

Glad you had a great birthday!
When you’d put something about “Jared got his first turkey” on FB, I first thought… “I didn’t know he hunts!” LOL Silly me!
